The General Directory for Catechesis tells us that all formation is to be modeled on the baptismal catechumenate (90-92). The vision of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (a.k.a. “the baptismal catechumenate”) is that the process takes place in the midst of the community throughout the year, summer and winter, rain or shine.
